Society of Decorative Painters & SHRINER'S HOSPITALS for Children
Treasure Boxes for Kids was created in early 2006 by "Ladybug" Jan McCraw
and debuted in June at SDP's 34th Annual Conference and Expo in
Nashville. More than 150 painters from all over the world and of
all skill levels gathered at painting stations and created treasure boxes,
both beautiful and whimsical, many based on patterns designed by Jan McCraw.
This program is to create hand painted "treasure boxes" for youth who
are receiving care at Shriner's Hospital for Children. These young
patients are often given small gifts to divert their attention from
their pain. Treasure Boxes are containers the youngsters can use
to store their toys and treasures. The boxes are then taken home.
